The series of works in aquarelle technique entitled “The Lake” is dedicated to the natural reserve – Lake Kerkini, near which the artist now lives after moving to one of the nearby villages.
The move gave the artist the opportunity to immerse herself deeply in the rhythm of the area. Daily observations of nature and conversations with local residents about the peculiarities of these places became a source of visual metaphors and plots. It combines stylized landscapes, ornamental flower motifs, animals, birds, and human figures. There is no exact nature here. Instead, there are simplified forms, rhythms, patterns, and color combinations that convey the character of the lake’s ecosystem and the author’s emotional response to it.
This series was conceived by the author to reflect the character and biological diversity of the lake through artistic and illustrative language and to explain why this place is important and why it is worth preserving.

Meet the artist

Evgenia Loginova is an artist based in Greece. In her works, she uses a rich palette and expressive illustrative style to create a space of joy, kindness, and an optimistic outlook on life. Her works are not a reflection of reality, but rather a tool for conceptual transformation and a way of modeling a holistic and harmonious world.

Color is the main expressive medium in her works. The bright, contrasting palette activates sensory perception and draws the viewer into an emotional dialogue with the image about the possibility of perceiving the world in an optimistic tone.

The compositional structure of her works, with their characteristic clear contours, large color planes, and rhythmic floral ornaments, creates visual clarity and contributes to the semiotic accessibility of the images. The illustrative style serves as a means of returning the viewer to the visual language of children’s books, thereby actualizing trust, immediacy of perception of the world, and contributing to emotional disclosure.

Through her work, she offers the viewer not an escape from reality, but a choice of where to look. The optimism in her work can be seen as a method of perceiving and structuring the world based on affirming the value of life, beauty, and harmony.

“In my view, optimism is not merely about expecting future improvements or assuming that everything will turn out fine. Rather, it is a conscious effort to find harmony and inner balance. For me, optimism is more a principle of perceiving life—one that reveals the beauty and wholeness of the world in the present moment. Drawing on images of nature and mythology that are close to my heart, I seek to invite viewers to experience the wholeness of life and joy of existence through a rich variety of colors.”
